Prickle & Bloom is Maya and Jordan Okafor — two horticulturalists, one greenhouse on the edge of Vancouver, and a slow-growing collection of the plants we love most.
We opened in 2018 out of frustration: too many “plant shops” were reselling stressed imports without knowing their names, let alone how to care for them. We wanted somewhere honest.
Today, we grow more than 140 species of cactus and succulent from seed and cutting, in a single greenhouse we know by touch. Every plant that leaves us has been watered by hand, watched over months or years, and packed with the same care we’d want if it were arriving on our doorstep.
Slow, small, and named. That’s the whole idea.
